Choosing the coaches to conduct your coaching skills training programs is paramount to the success of any workshop. First of all, you need to make sure that your selected coaches have the necessary knowledge and expertise. Secondly, you also need to ensure that they have the capabilities to train others because knowing doesn’t necessarily mean being a good trainer. Finally, you also need to make sure that selected coaches can spare enough time to undergo training.

  1. The role of coaches

Your workshop must also include a module that defines the role of coaches. It should clearly illustrate what coaches are and what they do. You can elaborate your point using examples of successful and unsuccessful coaching approaches.

  1. Coach/trainee relationship 

The coach/trainee relationship is an aspect that your workshop must also address. The reason is that new coaches are not aware of what a coach/trainee relationship would be like. They don’t have an idea whether it should be a long or short-term relationship or should it be formal or informal? It will develop skills in your coaches required for transferring knowledge to the trainees. 

  1. Creating a training program 

You also need to address how your coaches should create a training program outline covering different topics, when and how they will be covered, and when and how the coach will assess the progress of trainees. The training program outline helps both coaches and trainees throughout the training program. 

  1. Evaluating success of the workshop

The final step is to evaluate the success of the workshop. Do your coaches have a clear understanding of topics covered in the workshop? Are they feeling more confident in their capabilities to train others? Have you achieved the objectives you set for the workshop?
